Learn to Knit: Skills for "Knitted Knockers"

Learn to Knit: Skills for "Knitted Knockers" In-Person

Celebrate Summer with charitable knitting for your community!

Join staff in the Launchpad during this drop-in time to learn skills to make "Knitted Knockers" a knitted prosthetic for women who have had a mastectomy.

Skills covered during this class will include working in the round on double pointed knitting needles and decreasing. Familiarity with casting on and the knit stitch are strongly encouraged. Participants unfamiliar with basic knitting skills are encouraged to visit a Learn to Knit class before attending this class.

Yarn and needles will be available to use during the program. Participants wishing to continue their work outside the library are encouraged to bring their own set of size 5 double pointed needles or a size 5 circular needle with a cable 24" or more (for those more comfortable with the magic loop method.) Please call the Adult Service Desk at 386-676-4191 #4 for more details.
